Cumulative Standings after Talladega and Texsa

OK, now we're getting to some points. P337 is kicking but, but CP Belser and RealBamaGirl are hot on his tail. In these last two races there are plenty of points to be had that nearly anybody (except me) could surge ahead. The prize package for the winner includes a half doxen Nascar hats including 14, 88, 48 etc hats, and a Soft travel pillow with 88 team logo and picture. As well as other things. We are still looking for gift donations from players too. If I win...(which I cant) I want Shell236 to come here and cook me Cheese Biscuits. :D

Cumulative Points after Texas:

2010 Nascar Fantasy Crash League Championship Chase begins!!

Hi everyone. Well, now two races are under our belts and the fun has begun for real.

New Hampshire proved to be a strange race, people who wrecked actually ended up in the top 5, Cars and car chiefs were docked points, etc. Dover, may have surpassed all other tracks for sheer boredom. It felt weird to actually look forward to the mystery "debris" caution that Nascar is sure to throw out every race.

OK, here are the recaps for the first two races, followed by the accumulated scores

NOW IT ALL COUNTS!!!!! Starting 9/19/10

Practice season is over. Now all you points count!!! Make sure to get crash picks in weekly because we will accumulate points until the Homestead finale!!! The champion will get a prize package that is still growing. So dont miss a week....unless it's like last week...where we only had one person score at all (Richmond, Larry Taylor won with 10 points).

I will also begin to update the blog each week. I let it slide for a while. It's a good amount of work, and I was a tad busy. But from now on, scores will be posted, as will accumulated points.

Please also feel free to contribute a prize to the grand prize package if you wish. Let me know what it is, then just keep it and mail it to the winner after the Champion is declared.

Thanks for playing, now lets have some fun!!!!!

Aug 1 2010 POCONO SnoozeFest

Yawwwwnnnn....sorry, that was rude. As usual this race at Pocono had plenty of great racing. I mean a track where no two sections are the same? Every corner, every straightaway, different? I don't know how some of these drivers made it around once.....But, all of them seemed to make it around LOTS. There was very little action for crash league.

Take advantage of these practice weeks, because the Chase is coming up soon, and that is CUMULATIVE scoring toward a Champion for the year. I am still looking for prizes to be donated, for both weekly winners and to add to the Championship Prize package. If you are interested in sponsoring a prize, please email dmichaels66@gmail.com

And now, this weeks results:

THREE first place winners: CPBelser, HonestJohn60 and WisSmokeFan all with ONLY 20 points. It was a slow week for crash league.

WHAT HAPPENED TO JUNE!!!!!

I'm sorry particiapants....some of June got away from me. We skipped the Crash League altogether on Fathers Day, and did a trial run of a Nationwide Race RoadCourse race for another, and then there was a week where the data is just everywhere...two different computers, an email account, and it turned out to have only 2 crashes... (sounds like Loudon? Well it was). I may be able to pull all the data back for that, but I may just be able to post the winner.

I am attempting to use a new all computerized method of keeping track of picks, scoring, etc, and it may have had a few hiccups...OK, I know computeres dont good up we do...well I may have given my computer hiccups.....

Anyway, This week for Daytona, we are back!!!! And I am working on even more exciting, interactive ways to do this for next season.

Remember, in a few races it'll be time the the Race to the Championship Crash League extravaganza. Scores will COUNT each week and Accumilate to a grand champion!!! Last years Grand Champion @Allyson13 is looking good this year..better come up with a strategy!!

Pocono June 6, 2010

Well, after a lengthy rain delay, the track turned out beautiful. Plenty of grip, almost no legitimate cautions, although Nascar continues to find debris once in a while when Mike Helton or one of the France's have to go to the bathroom.

We weren't sure anyone would crash for a while, but at the very end there was a quite fun little mess to sort out. I'm always disappointed with Pocono Races, and I still am, but at least there was a few moments of fun and hours of Twitter fan controversy after.

Darlington, The Wall that eats Cars: May 8, 2010 ALSO NEW POSTING STYLE

Well, Darlington was a weird race this year, while the Darlington Stripe was all over the cars, the wall itself didn't inflict much damage. In fact, nothing inflicted much damage until nearly the end. But fear not, plenty of Crash points to go around.

Congratulations to this weeks winner: Lacey!!!!! aka SmokinAce88.

also please note a change in how I'm posting scores. To make things easier, I have gone to cutting and pasting you emails/post etc of pics. I am then scoring several times a race. I've decided to just post the entire worksheet, which means you can see everyone's scores, as well as who they picked.

Because everyone uses different formats to send me their pics, it may read strangely, but it can be followed fairly easily (heck, I can do it LOL). In everyones section you'll see xx/xx/xx/xx these are the scores for the various scoring passes I make, the very LAST one is the total score.

Post ARE NOT in scoring order, rather just a cut and paste of my worksheet.

I am also adding a quick link tab to a seperate page that will JUST be the rules. So you can easily find the rules without searching backwards.

Doug.

Talledega....Restrictor plate heaven..or is that hell.

Peeps, I think everyone is getting a little tires of restrictor plate races. I know we've been hashing and rehashing what to do about Daytona and Talladega for years, but this clearly isnt it.

They are fun races with exciting finishes, but I have to agree with Dale Jr., they are like playing the lottery lately. Fans get to see the bigone, be in suspense til the last turn before the checkered flag on the last lap, but for drivers trying to get points, starting and Parking is gonna become an option some day.

For Crash league, it's a veritable bonanza of points.

The Winner this week was P337 with 75 points.
CPBelser and Shell236 had 70 points.
SmokinAce88 and AllRacing_Lady had 65 points
BecBeat555 and Alyson13 had 60 points
HonestJohn60 with 55 points
I had 40 points.
So did LarryTaylor
TwentyFour had 35 points
RealBamaGirl had 20 points.

OOPSS There will be a delay in posting updates for last 2 races.

Hi everyone, As I wait for the rain to stop so we can maybe get some racing in at Texas today, I realized I did not update the results for the last 2 races.

Martinsville: March 29th: Turned out to be a more interesting race than we ever thought it would be. Due to circumstances not under my control right now, like rain, sun, cats and dogs living together in sin, I don't have the actual points in my hand right now, but it has been scored, and I am glad to say that RealBamaGirl SMOKED the field in points. I will try to get the individual points listed soon.

Phoenix Due to a conflict (I was spending time with my daughter who's needing some special care right now)I could not watch the race, and my helper took ill during the race, so I've gotta pour through race coverage, videos, even chat logs to find the crash statistics for this race. I hope I can piece enough info together to successful, and fairly, score the race. Keep your fingers crossed.

So that I don't run into this again, I think it justifys my purchase of DVR for my cable......yeah, that's it, that's a very important thing....must buy it...... :D

Atlanta. What can you say? WOW!!!

There's nothing new I can say about Atlanta that hasn't been rehashed endlessly during the 2 week break. We all have various opinions about the big Brad K, Carl E conflict, and the Nascar decision on how to penalize Carl. But the opinions are so diverse and wide-spread this time, if we started discussing them we'd be at it for months. Because we're all sure we're right.

It was a good crash league week though. The winner and some of the top scorers are new to Crash league this year. Good job!!!

SNOWYWESTIE with 35 points is this weeks winner!!
TwentyFour had 30 pts.
Peiper (rookie) 25pts

Fontana. The track too wide to race on...apparently!!

The race at Fontana on Feb. 21 was interesting from the point that it was NOT at all interesting. When cars can race 4 wide into a corner at 190 mph, it should be a sign your track is too wide. There was so much room that even the most reliable crashers like Paul Menard, Robby Gordon, even Sam Hornish had trouble finding a way to crash. Luckily Kasey Kahne and Denny Hamlin found a way to crash so some of got some points. AND Brad "Krashlotski" Keselowsi manage to crash all by himself as well (usually he's busy wrecking someone else.)

That being said, here's the weeks standings. Behind eash persons score is their accumulative score so the season so far.

Larry Taylor weekly champion!! 20 pts (20)

smokinace88 15 pts (15)

Pieper 10 pts (10)

Shell236 10 pts (100)

Realbamagirl 10 pts (120)

P337 5 pts (75)

WisSmokeFan 5 (60)

Cooter ZERO (20)

Renee4jr ZERO (95)

Allyson13 ZERO (25)

CPBelser ZERO (45)

BecBeat555 ZERO (125)

Nik Burdett ZERO (30)

TwentyFour -5 (40)

SnowyWestie -5 (15)

GennaGirl -5 (60)

Better luck at Las Vegas everyone.

2010 Daytona 500 HOLEFEST

We were all glad to see the Daytona 500 come. And for the most part it was a fun time. We still had the old, "New Cars" with the bad boxy handling, the stupid wing, the useless snowplow splitter, (which will all change in March thank heavens), but we did have a bigger restrictor plate and relaxed rules on bump drafting.

Bump drafting didn't materialize as much as was anticipated, because with the extra horsepower from the restictor plate increase, the drivers were able to actually use side drafting and their own power to pass. Huh. Appears drivers were right all along. The restrictor plates made the racing MORE dangerous, not less.

Of course this Daytona will become known as The Race with the HOLE! Because of the pothole that kept opening up and hurting the big boxy, low-riding pieces of junk that the NEW CAR's are.

That being said, lets get on with the scoring for Crash League this race:

The ladies ruled this week!!

BecBeat555
led with 125 pts. followed closely by

RealBamaGirl with 110 pts. and

Renee4Jr. with 95 pts

Shell236 with 90 pts

GennaGirl with 65 pts.

The highest score male was:

P337 with 65 pts

ME!!!! with 55 pts

CPBelser made his league debut with 45 pts, tied with

TwentyFour also at 45 pts.

Nik Burdett another newcomer managed 30 pts with incomplete pick list.

Allyson13, last years Grand Champion had 25 pts

NascarByCooter had 20 pts because all the usual crashers let him down this time.

SnowyWestie, another newcomer and friend of TheNascarKitty had 20 pts. With incomplete picks

All it all, it was a great race, a fun Crash league, and chat was a blast. Lee, Cooter, CPBelser & myself used up a lot of our good satire material during the long red-flags for "the HOLE" but we'll come up with more.

Thanks for playing, and as always, email or tweet with questions.

Nascar Fantasy Crash League Rules Refresher

Nascar Fantasy Crash League Rules Refresher

The Nascar Fantasy Crash League was concieved during a chat at the GSNAP.Com chat hosted by NascarByCooter during a crash filled race that was wreaking havoc on everyone's Fantasy Nascar contests.

The rules will be short and simple, we want this to be fun, and require Minumum involvement.

To best enjoy our version, you should be logged in to the NASCAR chats at GSNAP. You can get a free gsnap membership anytime by registering at http://gsnap.com . Then starting about an hour before every Sprint Cup Cars race, go back to GSNAP and follow the link to the Nascar Chat.

It's free, simple, and we have a lot of fun chatting, sometimes we even chat about the actual race. LOL.

Official Rules:
1.)Before each Nascar Sprint Cup Race post your picks by email to NascarFantasyCrashLeague
@gmail.com We will then post them on the chat site for you. If you cannot email them, make sure to post them yourself at chat before Green Flag.

If all else fails Tweet them to @WisSmokeFan.

The Picks: Pick One Driver who you think will crash first (crashes defined later) (50 pts) Note:if this driver crashes LATER it's still worth 10 pts.
Pick Five other drivers who you think may crash during the course of the race.(10 pts each crash)
Pick One driver who you believe will finish in 43rd place. (25 Bonus Pts)

2.) Keep track of your own points on the honor system. But, post them as they happen for the fun of it.

3.)PENALTIES: If any of your drivers finishes in the top 5 you lose 5 points each.

That's it. It's easy and fun. Now here's some FAQ:

WHAT CONSTITUTES A POINTS EARNING CRASH? Obviously a crash that brings out a yellow flag counts, but in some cases, a crash that does not cause yellow to come out will also earn points. Simply smacking a wall does not count (or we couldn't play at Darlington), nor does bumping another car, if neither of them crashes or spins. However, if a car spins out (either alone or because of contact) and keeps it on the track, or makes it directly to pit road without bringing out a yellow, that DOES count. If one car spins another, or causes a crash, but is mostly undamaged and continues racing, that car DOES NOT count.

WHAT IF MY CHOICE FOR FIRST CRASHER, CRASHES LATER, BUT NOT FIRST? That will count as a 10 point crash. Basically you have 6 drivers who's crashes are worth 10 points. And ONE of them is worth 50 pts if that particular driver crashes first. The Choice for last place is ONLY worth CRASH points if they are also a Crasher pick.

WHAT IF THE FIRST CRASH INVOLVES MULTIPLE CARS? If your driver is involved in the first crash and it's a multi-car crash, that counts regardless of where their particular crash occurred.

WHAT DO I WIN IF I FINISH WITH THE MOST POINTS? Pretty much bragging rights, BUT I may occasionally come up with a prize or gift certificate that I will mail to the winner. It's possible that other players may occasionally donate a prize just for the fun of it too. Note: For the CHASE races, we will keep cumilative score for a Grand Champion.

WHAT ABOUT THE CAMPING WORLD TRUCKS OR NATIONWIDE SERIES? The official contest is only for the Sprint Cup races, but they may be playing for fun during the other races. The GSNAP chat is active during all three races.

WHAT IF THERE IS A DISPUTE ABOUT A CRASH? A simple vote of whoever is on the chat and wants to vote will decide things not covered above. Simple majority of voters is all that is needed to decide.

That's it. Now get a GSNAP account (if you don't have one) and have some fun.

ALLYSON!13 Crash League CHAMPION!!!

Our inaugural season of Nascar Fantasy Crash League was won by Allyson13. Allyson had strong scores all year, although at the end of the year RealChevyygirl (now Realbamagirl) and Shell236 gave her a strong run for her money.

I myself, sucked mightily, the only reason I was not dead last was because a few people missed several weeks during the cumilative scoring during the race for the chase.

For 2010 we will play for the full season. Once again I don't have funding, or sponsors to have weekly prizes all the time. If I dig up a prize, if someone wishes to donate something etc, we'll give it away!! Most of last years prizes came out of my own pocket. Thanks to NascarByCooter who donated a Best Buy gift certificate too.

I will keep a cumilative score as the season goes along, but we haven't decided if the championship will be decided by the entire season, or the 10 Chase races.

Either way, come have fun.

Sponsors are welcome, anyone donated a prize will get all the publicity I can muster.

Thanks, and come play Nascar Fantasy Crash League.

Doug.

1/09/10 Update on P337. Let's Pray for Him!!!

I'm writing because several people have told me they would like to see an update and that writing would help me and maybe help others.

So, OK. I write.

I don't know where to start so I'll start with now. Today, January 9th, marks the fourth week since Timna passed into eternity. Four weeks since she died. For four weeks I've been without her.

It hasn't gotten any easier.

I still choke up when I try to talk about her. My chest hurts and I feel empty even as I write this. I've barely touched any of her things or even looked into her office/dressing room. The door has been closed almost all this time.

This last Monday at work we were late leaving the job site so I took out my cell phone to call her and let her know I'd be late. I collapsed to a stair step, sobbing, when I realized what I was doing. The guys understood.

The first Sunday I went to church after she died, I entered the sanctuary and looked for a seat. Timna always went in first while I parked and saved me a seat next to her. I had to leave and fell into a chair in the lobby from the pain of the loss.

People ask me how I'm doing. I say, "OK," because I don't know what else to say. I'm not OK! I hurt. My feeble attempts at humor are empty because my sense of humor seems to have left with her.

I don't really laugh.

I cry.

I know the reality of her presence with the Lord. There's peace in that. There was joy at the cemetery as we applauded her life and gave her a standing ovation. But the joy was fleet of wings when her day by day absence confronted me. I go through the motions. Get dressed, go to work, come home, make dinner, face the evenings and... I cry.

I go to bed early to escape into sleep. But I wake up.

I pray and get some relief but there's also the pain because Timna and I prayed together a lot.

Queenie, the Quaker Parrot, provides me with some distraction but also with memories of Timna playing with her.

I have little ambition. I take care of things that need taking care of but I can't seem to initiate doing things that aren't critical to get done. Last week I finally took down the autumn banners that Timna had put up. Christmas decorations just didn't seem important at all. I look all around the house and see things that should be done but I don't do them. I'm not living right now -- merely existing.

A sad existence.

I only recall three times in our thirty one years of marriage that Timna and I were apart more than a day. The longest separation was three days. Now it's been four weeks.

It seems an eternity.

Maybe writing this helps me to focus on things I need to do. I don't know how this can help anyone else. There's always the delete key.
Thanks to all for being there for me, and for being patient. I know I'll come through this period OK, it's just hard right now.

- Lee Peterman
